John 20.1-18 - Steve McGuire

 

Holy Week guides us right to the crucial matters of Christian faith.  The drama of the week begins with the decisive turn toward the crucifixion.  The actions and words of each day are carried out in the shadow of the looming cross.  Then Good Friday echoes those triumphant words, “It is finished!”  The mission has been faithfully carried out.  Yet, there is another act in this divine drama.  On Easter Sunday, God vindicates his Son, his plan, his story.  He announces his new creation already begun in the resurrection of Jesus.  This introduces a new drama that we celebrate today, a drama that continues in the resurrected lives of those who follow Jesus and experience his life within.
