The seasons of the year come and go.  For those in the larger mid-western region, this is very apparent in the acute changes in weather. Some of us would not want to live anywhere that does not experience these definite and sometimes sudden changes in temperature, moisture, and color.  It reminds us of a certain rhythm and that shapes our lives in very real ways.

 

    There is a certain rhythm in the church year as well.  It serves to lead us by acquainting us with the entire biblical story.  This too shapes us in every way.  Having focused on the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, we now move ahead toward Pentecost and the Gift of the Spirit.  We must never lose sight of those crucial saving events but we hurry to see how new stories and events connect to them and tell us more of God’s wonderful and comprehensive salvation.
