Philippians 3.7-14 - Steve McGuire

 

We are still in the 40 day period between the bodily resurrection of Jesus and his ascension to heaven.  Although 40 days does not seem like a long time when we look at a calendar, it does call attention to the importance of this period in the earthly ministry of Jesus.  When we talk about his death and resurrection being the climax of his life and ministry, we must be reminded that neither is quite the end of his earthly life and ministry.  Jesus was getting his followers ready for that time when his physical presence would not be seen by them any more but his presence would be with them none the less.  No wonder, he stayed 40 days more--so much for them to ponder and to study--so much to understand and bring to faith.  I pray that you and I are still wrestling with the great truths of his death, resurrection, and continued presence with us.
