John 21.1-14 - Steve McGuire
Today we will look at another resurrection appearance in John’s Gospel. This is the fourth appearance and the third to Jesus’ disciples. There is a total of eleven post resurrection appearances in the New Testament. It seems that Jesus wanted to make that point very clear and unmistakable to his disciples. The Jesus who died on the cross for our sins is the same Jesus who arose three days later. These appearances also make clear what Paul nails down in 1 Corinthians 15--that Christ’s resurrection was not merely a spiritual or psychological event in the lives of his followers. Jesus arose bodily from the dead. I pray that you continue to contemplate the resurrection of Jesus and its meaning for you, for the church, for the world, for the present, and for all time.
