Some people might view what we do here on Sundays as something akin to wiping the dust off an old antique or passing on a family heirloom. It’s important only to those who hold the article and the memories and sentiments that go with it. It is true that much of what we talk about took place 2000 years ago—and those are the more recent events—to say nothing of the things God did in the life of David (1000 B.C.) or Abraham (2000 B.C.). Yet you and I are convinced that the most crucial events in all history took place back then in the incarnation, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
