John 4.1-26 - Steve McGuire
I wonder if many Christians do not follow the path of Lent because it is a somewhat long and drawn out process. It takes a while to get to holy week and as we move in that direction, keeping one’s heart open to God and the insisting on the discipline of listening for his voice becomes difficult. It is just too long and too hard for many of us. Most believers like to glimpse the cross and resurrection in one or two quick visits. But Lent is a season. And the gospel stories invite us to come on a journey--a journey that follows Jesus along a challenging road into that final week of his ministry. We must prepare and then prepare some more. We must study deeply and then study again. We must walk the path and then walk further until we are ready to approach the cross of Jesus and understand again--or perhaps for the very first time--what his death means. I hope to see you there.
